Robot Japan 5: Performance - Autonomous Operation

Publicado el 11/01/2013 A team from the Seoul University of Science and Engineering participated in several events at Robot Japan 5, including doing two demonstrations of autonomous operation in the Performance category. In this demonstration their humanoid robot locates and identifies two juice containers several feet way. It then moves into position close to the containers and picks them up using hand mounted manipulators, and delivers them to the operator. One of the big challenges in this type of demonstration is always ambient lighting. In this case the team had to ask for the overhead lights to be adjusted so that the robots cameras could accurately pickup the containers. My assumption is that initially the lights were too strong and were flooding the robots cameras with way too much illumination.
